    i love spa - Reason #2

Well, we're getting down to the finals of who will be #1. It's never an easy decision as to who should place first in something like this. But the top two I thought really distanced themselves from the pack - both for their own reasons.

The #2 reason wins a book by Dr. Michelli and a t-shirt. Thanks for the awesome entry!!

Chocolate, lots of chocolate, all the times at every spa sponsored and attended event…what girl doesn’t love chocolate? Nice way to nab the babes!

Access to some of the most awesome, beautiful, unique furniture and props (and sales are even more fun)
TK Notes…who’d a thought bringing trapper keepers back was bring sexy back?!?! This thing is HOTTT, filled with great articles, goodies, and pictures.

Though I’ve never been to a spa Event (YET!), I hear it is one of the most awesome experiences…you feel like a rockstar, eat all the m&m’s you can find, great people, great models, great locations..may the talent that surrounds you just ooooooze on you and through you. If only osmosis worked by putting my forehead up to Gary Box’s forehead…or something like that! I can’t wait to attend my first spa Event!

spa treatments. No, not things like pedis and manis…or massages and facials…but the spa photo treatments. There is so much great sharing from creators and members of spa on how to achieve certain looks with their images. I’m not worthy! I’m not worthy!

Andy and his sense of humor…that blog about running for president was great…and I admit, I stole it and stuck my husband’s name on there. Blush (full disclosure – Andy stole it from Gary Box, who stole from someone I’m sure)

Overall though, the willingness of the members to share their secrets, tips, suggestions, critiques, etc. so that everyone in the spa family can grow and blossom in their business and lives. Personally, I’d like to keep spa a shhhh, secret, but then it wouldn’t grown even bigger with more awesome people to contribute!

    Brand new Junk!

Okay, I know that this is supposed to be a site for senior photographers and about senior photography, but so many photographers do so many different types of photography that I know this may be a great thing for anyone.

So, brand new at the spa shopping cart are these way cool little mini couches. They're inspired by the old school car backseats - hence the names of each loveseat.

    Check out these images:

Here's the best part - they are only $269!! And even less if you are a member of spa (ahhh, the real pitch!). Here are some more:

Look what we can do for you....

This is the waiting, lounge room for one of Colleen and Company's (Colleen Gonsar and Darty Hines) studios. They used us to recreate their senior lounge area. We gave them a couple of different options, and this is the one they chose. Pretty cool.

    Back to the Big Apple

This weekend, Kia and I will be traveling to New York to visit one of my favorite places in the world. We are going to attend the New York International Gift Show for Robert Andrew Designs, but we always seem to find inspiration for all of our businesses in New York.

Here are some of our destination goals...

The Metropolitan Museum of Art: in all of our trips to New York, we've done some cool stuff but for some reason have never seen this. Supposed to be amazing - one of the top things to do.

Avenue Q Broadway show: Another never done in New York...been to a Broadway show. We've seen the opera and Dave Letterman, just not Broadway. I've heard really good things about this show, so I'm really excited to see it.

The Empire State Building: Yep, never done this one either (you've got to be saying to yourself - has he really actually been to New York? Honestly I have...) This just has to be done, to have done it, I think...

I don't have any other specific things in mind, possibly trying to find some sample sales - I know we'll be shopping...a lot. I'm sure we'll be looking for some unique, fun places to eat - I love diners. So, if any of you have any suggestions feel free to fire away. We leave tomorrow evening.

I'll let you know how it goes!

Robert Andrew Designs One Day Sale

This hasn't ever been done before, and we'll see if it will ever be done again, but Robert Andrew Designs is having a one day sale on it's Roll Screen backgrounds. Specifically the chocolate, expresso and teak colors. I only have a few of each, so you won't want to wait until the end of the day.

The sale will be tomorrow, Thurday June 28th from 9am to 5pm or until we are sold out. I've already gotten a positive response from an email I sent, so I don't expect them to stay long.

Here are some images by spa Member photographers...

    High Point Images

I've been accused of not posting enough - can you believe it! I'm doing my best to rectify that.

I wanted to share a few images of our trip to High Point, North Carolina. High Point for the past several decades has been the furniture capital of the world (now Vegas is trying to take that title, but that's another story completely...).

Twice a year the furniture market is held at High Point and people from around the world visit to shop for their businesses. We go for both a local furniture boutique my brother-in-law owns and for Robert Andrew Designs. When I tell people about High Point, initially they think of it in terms of a really large trade show, which it is - times a million. It's basically a small city of building upon building - some 15 stories high - of nothing but furniture. Craziness...

I'm pretty excited about some of the things we found this time around to introduce in the summer and fall. Some items will continue the same look we've had, and others are going to go a little more contemporary and at a little lower price point.

    Here are some pics:

    • The Ting Tings -

The Ting Tings: We Started Nothing
I was supposed to see them in concert this summer, but it (concert) was canceled. Fun album with some good songs. Not all around great, but I bet it would have been really fun to see them live. (***)

    • The Black Keys -

The Black Keys: Attack and Release
My cousin tried to get me to go see these guys a few years back while in NYC. I should have gone. Some sweet, soulful, Rock-n-Roll. Produced by one of the guys responsible for Gnarls Barkley - so a slight twist on things. (****)

    • Raphael Saadiq -

Raphael Saadiq: The Way I See It
Just by looking at the cover art, you'll notice this is going to be a throwback album. In this case, it's the 1960's. One of the former members of Tony, Toni, Tonee, dude's got some serious soul. Love the album, one of my favorites of 2008! (*****)

    • Lady Gaga -

      Lady Gaga: The Fame
Great dance album. It's been out for a while, and I even saw her on some dance or singing show this year, but I just got her album recently. I love it, and think most people will really like it too. (****)

    • Tokyo Police Club -

      Tokyo Police Club: Elephant Shell
Nice alternative/electric mix to my large electronic/dance collection. Like it, don't love it. (****)
